nIn view of a nationwide strike of truck drivers, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Tuesday asked officials to ensure that there is no shortage of essential commodities for the public.
He was reviewing the availability of essential commodities in the state at a meeting here, an official statement said.
All divisional Commissioners, district Collectors, Inspectors General of Police and Superintendents of Police virtually attended the meeting.
The Chief Minister said that Collectors and SPs will be held accountable if any inconvenience was caused to the common people due to essential commodities or law and order.
“Correct information should be provided to the common people and misleading news should be prevented. Action should be taken against those spreading rumours. Officials must inquire about the availability of petrol, diesel, medicines, fruits, vegetables and grains and ensure their continuous supply,” he said.
“Police should keep an eye on the situation. A control room should be created at the state and district levels to operate 24 hours. Immediate action should be taken if the supply of any essential item is disrupted,” he added.
He asked the administration to check if hoarding was taking place.
In view of the strike, Sai called for ensuring the supply of petrol, diesel and LPG.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain, Director General of Police Ashok Juneja, Additional Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Pingua, Secretary to the Chief Minister P. Dayanand, Food Secretary Topeshwar Verma and Director Food Jitendra Shukla and other officers.
