As many as 62,000 workers are working in 1,686 works as part of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) in Chhattisgarh’s Gariaband district, an official statement said on Wednesday.
The participation of farmers in MNREGA is increasing as they are selling their paddy.
Gariaband Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Rita Yadav said various works were being started at every gram panchayat so that the need for migration does not arise.
Presently, works are being done in 304 of the 336 Gram Panchayats of the district.
