An Almora resident died after the vehicle he was travelling in fell into a 300 metre deep gorge in the Dehradun district's Chakrata area on Wednesday. The officials informed that the Chakrata police called the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and asked for a search and rescue team to recover a man whose vehicle had fallen into a deep gorge in Chakrata’s Koti Ichhadi road near Kwanu. A team under the supervision of additional sub inspector of SDRF Manish Chauhan left for the spot soon after getting the information. The officials said that it took a considerable time for the team to reach the victim down in the gorge. The team finally reached the victim who was found dead at the spot. The SDRF handed over the body to the police after retrieving it from the deep gorge. The police took the body to the hospital in an ambulance to carry out the required procedures before handing over the body to the deceased’s family. The officials said that the deceased has been identified as Trilok Singh (40), a resident of Jaiti village in Almora district. He was going to Vikasnagar from Chakrata when his vehicle fell into the gorge near Kwanu, as per the officials. According to them, it appears that the man suddenly lost control of the vehicle due to which it fell into the gorge.
