Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate Ayodhya’s Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram International Airport, a monumental project designed by Sthapati, ushering in a new era of airport excellence and cultural identity.
Positioned strategically to enhance connectivity, this infrastructural marvel, underscores India’s commitment to sustainable aviation practices.
The Ayodhya airport, designed to accommodate over 750 passengers during peak hours with four aircraft movements per hour, aligns with India’s burgeoning aviation growth. With a cost of Rs 250 crore, the two-storeyed structure draws inspiration from North India’s Nagara style of temple architecture, reflecting the rich history of Ayodhya.
The entrance, adorned with a grand stepped shikar, sets a cultural tone, symbolising Ayodhya’s heritage. Mega columns supporting the terminal roof narrates the Kandas of Ramayana, intricately blending history into architecture.
Artistic immersion unfolds within the terminal, featuring symbolic murals depicting Lord Ram’s timeless tale. Bow and Arrow murals symbolise the courage to confront untruth, while eco-conscious GRC materials contribute to carbon neutrality, exemplifying sustainable aviation practices.
Anticipating increased tourism, the Ayodhya airport’s passenger terminal accommodates 150 arrivals and departures simultaneously, enhancing local and national connectivity. Beyond architecture, the project is a catalyst for economic growth, projected to create at least 500 jobs annually, bolstering the local community.
Designed and implemented by Sthapati, known for their expertise in airport design and heritage conservation, the Ayodhya airport is not just a marvel but a promise of seamless connectivity, sustainable practices and economic prosperity for Ayodhya, shaping a significant chapter in India’s aviation narrative.
