The BJP on Saturday observed bandh in six districts demanding arrest and dismissal of Minister of State (Home) Dibya Shankar Mishra over his alleged link in the Mamita Meher murder case.
The party held 12-hour bandh in Baleswar, Deogarh, Boudh, Kendrapada and Jagatsinghpur and six-hour bandh in Bhadrak to mount pressure on the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD government seeking removal of Minister Mishra.
The protest began in different places of Bhadrak district from 6 am. The agitators staged demonstrations at Bant Chhak, Charampa railway station, New Bus-Stand, Kacheri Road and Bhadrak College Square and before the Collectorate, law courts and SP Office. The stir was also held at other places including Randia, Charampa, Ranital and Ichhapur.
Vehicular movements remained off the roads in the concerned districts during the bandh. Trains were also halted at major railway stations in Baleswar and Bhadrak districts.
The party demanded immediate dismissal of Minister Mishra for his alleged link with Mamita case prime accused Govinda Sahu.
