Wearing oxygen masks to highlight air pollution, Delhi BJP leaders and workers held protests at four places in the national capital on Saturday morning against the AAP government failing to check air pollution. The party's leaders said the protests were held at the ITO crossing, near the India Gate, the roundabout near the Le Meridian Hotel and the 11 Murti roundabout.
Member of Parliament Manoj Tiwari and Delhi BJP general secretary Kamaljeet Sehrawat joined the protest at the 11 Murti Chowk. Delhi BJP general secretaries Harsh Malhotra and Yogendra Chandolia joined the protests at the ITO crossing and the Le Meridian roundabout respectively. Senior Delhi BJP leader Rajiv Babbar joined the demonstration at India Gate, they added.
Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said Delhi Government's winter action plan on pollution has totally failed as it has no plan to control ever rising dust pollution in the city. As the people of Delhi are facing air pollution, both chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and his environment minister Gopal Rai are missing from the past one week. Kejriwal is on vacation and Rai has not spoken a word,” he said.
Sachdeva said that Delhi Government's winter action plan on pollution has totally failed as it has no plan to control ever rising dust pollution in the city. Delhi BJP leader Rajiv Babbar who coordinated today's protest campaign and himself stood with party workers at India Gate Kartavya Path intersection said that its regrettable that due to failure of Kejriwal Government to curb pollution the senior citizens & children are worst sufferers and have to stay indoors.
BJP MP Manoj Tiwari and party BJP General Secretary Kamaljeet Sehrawat joined party workers wearing Oxygen Mask at 11 Murti Chowk and said that with ever rising pollution pregnant women & children are worst sufferers.
Delhi BJP General Secretary Harsh Malhotra stood at I.T.O. Chowk with party workers and said that its shocking to see the AQI towering above 200 in December end when normally the air used to be clean with only fog troubling till last year but due to criminal negligence of the Kejriwal Government today we are fighting both smog and fog.
