The Bharatiya Janata Party issued a whip to all its members in Uttar Pradesh Assembly, asking them to be present in the House on Tuesday when the state budget would be put to vote.
The assembly is slated to take up discussion and voting on demands for the budgetary grants for 2022-23 fiscal on Tuesday. The assembly will vote for the grants in respect of the state budget for 2022-23.
Finance Minister Suresh Khanna will reply to the discussion on Appropriation Bill, 2022 and Finance Bill, 2022. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is also likely to speak on this occasion.
The Appropriation Bill seeks to authorise payment and appropriation of certain sums from and out of Consolidated Fund for the services in 2022-23 fiscal. The Finance Bill, 2022 gives effect to financial proposals of the state government for 2022-23.
"This being a Money Bill, the whip has been issued to ensure that all BJP legislators are present in the House when voting over the Finance Bill 2022-23 is taken up in the lower House of the state legislature," a BJP lawmaker told this reporter in Lucknow on Monday.
A safe passage of the Money Bill is crucial because if it falls, it will mean that the government has lost the majority in the House.
