All govt and pvt schools in Punjab up to Class 10 to be closed till Jan 14
Chandigarh: Due to inclement weather conditions in the region, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Sunday ordered that all the government, government-aided and private schools in the state up to 10th class will remain closed from January 8-14. In a statement issued here, the Chief Minister, while expressing concern over rough weather conditions, said that this can cause huge damage to the health of the children. He said that in the larger interests of school-going students, this order was necessitated and the schools will remain closed till January 14.
Hry Dy CM unveils statue of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar in Baroli
Chandigarh: Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala on Sunday paid homage to Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar, by unveiling his statue in Baroli village, Sonipat. He also announced the construction of a digital library on the vacant land beside the statue, urging the panchayat to submit a proposal soon. Addressing the gathering, Chautala said despite facing hardships in his struggle for education, Dr. Ambedkar earned degrees even abroad and then penned the Constitution that binds India together. “Today, because of that Constitution, our nation stands united and progresses on the world stage," said the Deputy Chief Minister. Chautala acknowledged Dr. Ambedkar's contribution in uniting the nation and emphasised the need for unity for the country's progress and all-around development.
Hry Minister lays foundation stone for new multi-storey building of Govt Girls Senior Secondary School
Chandigarh: Haryana Transport and Higher Education Minister Mool Chand Sharma on Sunday laid the foundation stone for the new multi-story building of Martyr Lieutenant Rajesh Thapa Government Girls Senior Secondary School in Sector-22 today in Ballabgarh constituency. The construction work of the new building commenced with the groundbreaking ceremony. Speaking on the occasion, the Higher Education Minister said that the construction of this building, with an estimated cost of around Rs. 5.50 crore and featuring three floors with approximately 36 rooms, will be equipped with the latest technical facilities. The construction of this building will be undertaken by the Haryana School Shiksha Pariyojna Parishad, said Sharma. The Minister directed education department officers to ensure completion of this building within the stipulated time frame.

Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Administration will organize a Grievance Redressal Camp for the redressal of grievances of serving soldiers, ex-servicemen and their dependents at Zila Sainik Welfare Office, Sector-21-D, Chandigarh on January 15 from 10 am to 2 pm. They can approach the Zila Sainik Welfare Office along with the application and documents. Zila Sainik Welfare Office, Sector-21-D, Chandigarh will forward their application to the concerned depot to resolve the problem and will follow its progress, a statement said.
