A team of the Crime Branch (CB) reached Chandrapur in Rayagada district on Friday to investigate into the death of a ‘Maa Home’ employee Laxmi Majhi.
The five-member CB team would investigate the case and collect forensic evidence from the spot.
A local tribal girl, Laxmi’s partially-charred body was found from the backside of the Maa House located in the premises of Chandrapur Community Health Centre on December 21.
A disabled Majhi was working at the Maa House as a warden for the last five years after getting recruited by a social organisation named ALISHA.
She was allegedly set ablaze by unidentified miscreants. An FIR was filed at the police station by her family members.
Meanwhile, the BJP demanded justice for Majhi. The party's Mahila Morcha also observed a six-hour bandh in Rayagada following the incident. The party has also demanded a CBI inquiry into the incident.
