The Chhattisgarh government issued an order on Thursday for procuring 21 quintals of paddy per acre at a support price of Rs. 3,100 per quintal for the Kharif year 2023-24.
Farmers who have already sold their paddy will also receive the benefits.
An estimated procurement of 1.30 lakh tonnes is to be done. About Rs 40,000 crore will be paid to the farmers in lieu of paddy procurement.
This year, farmers will receive a total of Rs 65,100 per acre, Rs. 23,355 more than the previous year.
As many as 26.86 lakh farmers have registered a paddy area of 33.15 lakh hectares as of November 1.
So far, about 9.25 lakh farmers have sold 42.20 lakh tonnes of paddy.
Until recently, only 15 quintals of paddy per acre were being procured. Now this quantity has been increased by six quintals.
