An awareness programme on child rights and child protection was held by the Regional Centre for Development Cooperation (RCDC), Bhubaneswar, with the help of Child Fund Germany and BMZ Germany in the premises of Chakotia Bhunjia Development Agency (CBDA) at Michhapali under Komna block on Sunday.
Komna BDO Hitansu Samal and District Child Protection Officer Antarjyami Baliarsingh were the chief guest and guest of honour respectively. Member, Juvenile Justice Board Nivedita Samal, Member, District Child Welfare Committee Narayan Joshi, Ahalya Pujari and Babita Mishra were also guests of honour. Police Sub Inspector Gauri Shankar Mishra and Medical Officer Samya Ranjan Panda were also present.
The guests discussed about child rights, safety, nutritious food for children and how to stop the problem of child marriage and reduce children dropout rate in schools through better implementation of various Government schemes available for children. Hundreds of children from 22 villages under four Gram Panchayats of Komna Block, members, Child Protection Committee and School Management Committee participated.
Children of the education center run by RDCC participated in games and various competitions like drawing, poetry, singing, general knowledge and music chair etc. Those who won were awarded certificates and prizes. Various cultural programmes were organised by the RCDC. Project Officer Pradeep Kumar Patra coordinated the events with the support of Ratnakar, Sudershan, Yudhisthir and Mansingh.
