Chile's women's team reached Ranchi on Sunday to showcase its talent in the FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers 2024 to be held in the capital Ranchi from January 13. Apart from the traditional welcome, the players were welcomed to the soil of Ranchi with drums and drums.

Earlier, Indian Women’s Hockey team, with its eyes firmly set on the Paris Olympic berth, arrived in Ranchi, Jharkhand on Wednesday evening for the looming FIH Olympic qualifiers 2024.

Captained by the seasoned goalkeeper Savita, the team begins their campaign on January 13th against the United States, a rematch of their thrilling 2019 encounter for a ticket to the Tokyo Olympics.

Meanwhile, Jharkhand is all set to host the FIH Hockey Olympics Qualifiers Ranchi 2024, scheduled to take place from 13 to 19 January 2024 at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Astro Turf Hockey Stadium in Ranchi. This prestigious event is one of the three Olympics Qualifiers happening globally, with counterparts in Muscat, Oman (Men’s) and Valencia, Spain (Women’s and Men’s).

The aforementioned event was originally slated to be held in China, but Hockey India requested FIH to shift the venue to India after China Women’s directly qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers Ranchi 2024 is poised to be a spectacle that will captivate audiences worldwide, showcasing the exceptional talent and passion for hockey prevalent in India. This event is expected to leave an indelible mark in the archives of international hockey, serving as a platform for the Indian Women’s Hockey Team to exhibit their prowess and compete for a coveted spot at the grand stage of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

As the countdown begins for this momentous event scheduled from January 13th to 19th, 2024, all eyes turn to Ranchi, eagerly anticipating a thrilling display of skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship on the turf. On 13th January 2024, India will take on United States at 1930 hours IST.

Last year on November India beat Japan 4-0 to win the Jharkhand Women's Asian Champions Trophy, with goals from Sangita Kumari, Neha Goyal, Lalremsiami and Vandana Katariya.

It was India's second Asian Champions Trophy title, with the first one coming in 2016, and the team's second silverware under head coach Janneke Schopman after the FIH Nations Cup victory.
