Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami felicitated the rat hole miners in a programme held at his residence on Thursday. These miners had played a key role in the rescue of the trapped workers in the under-construction tunnel in Silkyara in Uttarkashi district last month. The CM presented a shawl and cheque of Rs 50,000 each to 12 rat hole miners in the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, the CM said that these miners worked in very difficult situation and did not care about their own lives while engaging in digging, cleaning and pipe cutting work in Silkyara. He said that the rat hole miners played a key role in the success of the rescue mission in Silkyara. Dhami said that all the rat hole miners deserve praise for the effort and hard work they had put into ensuring the success of the rescue mission. On behalf of the people of the State, Dhami also expressed gratitude for all those who were involved in the rescue operation.
The rat hole miners also expressed their gratitude to the CM for honouring them. They said that it is a matter of pride for them that they got a chance to work with different agencies in the mission to rescue 41 workers trapped in the tunnel.
The additional chief secretary Radha Raturi, district magistrate of Uttarkashi Abhishek Rohila and others were also present on the occasion.
