Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami flagged off 58 vehicles for door to door garbage collection at his camp office on Tuesday. The vehicles will be used in the solid waste management drive under the ‘Swachchh Bharat Mission’. Speaking on the occasion, the CM said that the new vehicles will help the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) in solid waste management.
He said that the State government is consistently working in the direction of improving sanitation in the State. Exhorting the people to contribute in the success of Swachchh Bharat Mission, the CM said that efforts are being made for clean and beautiful Dehradun. Dhami said that awareness in people about sanitation is increasing and added that awareness campaigns in public should be organised regularly for sanitation.
The 58 door to door vehicles flagged off by the CM will be used in solid waste management in seven assembly constituencies of Rajpur, Raipur, Doiwala, Dharampur, Sahaspur, Mussoorie and Dehradun Cantt. These vehicles have been purchased by the MCD with a sum of Rs 3.98 crore provided under the special assistance scheme.
The urban development minister Premchand Agarwal, soldier welfare minister Ganesh Joshi, Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal, MLAs Vinod Chamoli, Umesh Sharma Kau, Khajan Das, Savita Kapoor, former mayor Sunil Uniyal Gama, district magistrate Sonika and others were present on the occasion.
