AIIMS Bhopal Research Cell is conducting a two-day comprehensive workshop on December 29-30, 2023, for its MD/MS/DM/Mch and MSc Nursing students of the July 2023 batch so as to teach them how to conduct quality research/<thesis during their three-year academic tenure at the institute.
The research cell of the institute is now conducting this kind of workshop every six months to ensure that the thesis carried out by the students is of high quality, makes an impact in medical research, and simultaneously teaches the students the appropriate techniques to conduct good-quality research.
The event was inaugurated by Executive Director, AIIMS Bhopal Prof Ajai Singh on December 29, 2023, who emphasized that research is not only needed as a part of the curriculum but also required to imbibe appropriate and relevant knowledge from the plethora of research papers published these days. He encouraged the participating students to make this an interactive workshop so that they could gain the most from the faculty members conducting various sessions.
A total of 70 students from various clinical and para clinical departments of the institute are participating in the workshop this time and in-house faculty members from the institute will be delivering didactic lectures on various aspects of research protocol writing, e.g., introduction, methodology, reference manager software, study designs, sample calculation, etc.
This will make the students self-reliant to conduct their thesis and help them refrain from depending on others in the management of these different aspects of their thesis work. The teaching faculty members also briefed the students that this kind of workshop is not commonly conducted at many places and students should make full use of this activity in conducting their thesis work more efficiently. Since research, apart from clinical work and teaching, is an integral mandate of AIIMS Bhopal, the research cell continues to focus on carrying out such activities every six months for every new batch of students inducted into postgraduate programs.
