In response to the increased instances of Influenza-Like Illness (ILI) and Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI), including a new variant of COVID-19, across the country, Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Balbir Singh on Tuesday affirmed that the State Government is fully equipped to address any exigency in the State.
Conducting a virtual meeting with Civil Surgeons, Dr Balbir reviewed the medical infrastructure arrangements at state health facilities. He assured that the Government has a comprehensive strategy in place, boasting sufficient bed capacity, ventilators, and an ample supply of personal protective equipment (PPE) kits, masks, and testing kits to effectively manage the potential spread of the virus.
Dr Balbir highlighted that all health facilities in the state are adequately staffed with doctors and medical personnel, and the oxygen plants and emergency systems are active in government hospitals.
Emphasizing that the situation is under control and urging people not to panic, the Minister called on citizens to strictly adhere to health and safety protocols, including frequent handwashing, to contain the virus.
