Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has declared a Dry Day on the consecration ceremony of Lord Rama in Ayodhya on January 22, it was announced on Wednesday.
In a video message, the Chief Minister said: “The ‘pran pratishtha’ of Shri Ramlala will take place on January 22 in Ayodhya. People of Chhattisgarh are enthusiastically looking forward to this mega event as Chhattisgarh is the maternal birthplace of Shri Ram.
"In consideration of the zeal and fervour of people, this auspicious day will be declared a Dry Day in Chhattisgarh.”
As per an Excise Department order, all country and Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) retail shops, restaurant-bars, hotel-bars and clubs in the state will be closed on January 22.
Non-proprietary clubs, restaurants and hotels have been instructed not to allow sale and serving of liquor on the Dry Day..
Personal storage as well as storage of liquor in unlicensed premises that day is strictly banned.
An investigation team has been constituted to prevent illegal storage of liquor.
