Chhattisgarh BJP leaders on Thursday said the Congress leadership does not have any authority to appoint a Deputy Chief Minister, saying the latter has encroached on the domain of the Chief Minister.
BJP state President Arun Sao said there was no provision for any party to make an appointment to a constitutional position. In a way it has encroached upon the authority of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.
The question arises if the Congress leadership has lost faith in the leadership of Baghel or the public has completely lost faith in the government, he asked, pointing out that Singh Deo's appointment will be just for four months.
Former Chief Minister Raman Singh said it is baffling why Singh Deo has been made Deputy Chief Minister for just 60 days and he has accepted it.
It is for the first time a Deputy CM's post has been created in Chhattisgarh.
Singh congratulated Nandkumar Sai for his appointment as Chairman of the Chhattisgarh State Industrial Development Corporation. Former BJP tribal leader Sai left the party to join the Congress.
