Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, on Wednesday, said that through Sansad Khel Mahakumbh, an opportunity was given to our youth to showcase their strength and potential.
Speaking on the occasion of the inauguration of Sansad Khel Mahakumbh 3.0 in Basti, in the presence of Bharatiya Janata Party National President JP Nadda, the chief minister said, “The initiative to establish one sports centre in each district has been started by the Indian Government and Uttar Pradesh has also pledged to enhance programmes for sports and sportspersons.”
He further mentioned that every village would have a sports field along with an open gym. Construction of a stadium in every district and a mini stadium in every development block level was in progress, he informed. The result of these efforts was that the players were making the country proud at the global level.
Referring to the efforts being made to promote sports in Uttar Pradesh, the chief minister stated that the state government had so far given government jobs to 500 athletes. This includes the appointment of sportspersons as a deputy superintendent of police and naib tehsildar. The recruitment process for various categories in the police force had also been advanced.
“Within the sports quota, 500 new posts are being created. Also, a two percent reservation has been implemented in the sports quota. Players who win medals in global competitions will not only receive government jobs but will also be provided with lifelong support for their sustenance”, Yogi added.
Addressing players participating in the MP Sports Competition, Yogi congratulated those who had won medals and encouraged them to continue their efforts. He also encouraged the participants to improve their performances in order to excel in other competitions as well.
While highlighting the relationship between JP Nadda and Basti, he mentioned that the medical college in Basti was established when Nadda ji was the Union Health Minister. “One might not have thought about the existence of a medical college in Basti. Whether it is AIIMS in Gorakhpur or the Medical College in Basti, all of these are contributions by Nadda ji,” Yogi remarked.
Yogi further said, “Nadda ji visited eastern UP as the Health and Family Welfare Minister to address issues like encephalitis. He was concerned, but at the same time, he devised effective plans as well. Today, we are happy to say that we have completely eradicated encephalitis. This disease, which claimed the lives of 50,000 children in over 40 years, has now been completely controlled and eliminated.”
“Nadda ji’s significant role as the Health Minister under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership is evident in this achievement.”
Before this, Yogi congratulated JP Nadda on BJP’s resounding victory with a massive majority in three states.
He said that in the past nine and a half years, the country had witnessed a vision for a New India that offered an opportunity for all 142 crore people to progress with pride, becoming part of a development process without discrimination.
“The work has been done by making villagers, the poor, farmers, youth, Dalits, marginalized, backward and women participants in government schemes and transforming their lives in the process,” he said.
