A massive fire broke out at a three-storey restaurant in Uttarkashi’s Naugaon in the wee hours of Tuesday. It took several hours for the authorities to control the fire. According to the officials, the fire station at Badkot received information in the wee hours that a hotel in Naugaon had caught fire. A team immediately left for the site under the supervision of Badkot station in-charge Surat Singh Chauhan and found that the three-storey restaurant along with a bakery shop had caught fire. They found out that the accident occurred due to the explosion of two cylinders. The officials said that the team was consistently spraying water over the building. The police also called the fire unit of Purola to the spot to speed up the process of extinguishing the fire to prevent it from spreading to the nearby buildings. The fire tenders also took out four cylinders from the building that could have caused more explosions, said the officials. According to them, it took them about three hours to control the fire. They said that no casualties were reported at the spot and the police are investigating what exactly caused the fire.
