A fire broke out on Thursday afternoon at the official residence of former Chhattisgarh minister Guru Rudra Kumar in Raipur.
The incident took place at around 2.30 pm during shifting at Ganj area, Station House Officer Ashish Yadav said. The former minister has not vacated the official residence so far.
After being alerted, the police and fire fighters doused the flames within half hour. An almirah and some furniture were gutted.
An electrical short circuit may have caused the incident.
