Five people, including a couple, were killed after a car crashed into a stationary double decker bus on the Yamuna Expressway in Aligarh and later when some youths were trying to rescue the occupants, a Volvo bus went crushing them on Monday.
The accident took place in the Tappal area of Aligarh district.
District Magistrate Indra Vikram Singh confirmed four deaths when the car from the Agra lane heading towards Noida rammed into the stationary double decker bus having Haryana registration at about 6:30 am on Monday.
The district magistrate further informed that those among dead were two men named Pushpendra, Pawan from Mathura’s Naujheel, and Yogendri, a woman from Tappal. Three injured people were shifted to Kailash hospital in Jewar area on the expressway for treatment.
Tappal police station in-charge Pankaj Mishra said the car was going from Agra to Noida when it met with an accident at Mile Stone 56 of Yamuna Expressway.
Meanwhile, Pushpendra Singh (27) of Avakhada village of Naujheel, Pushpendra Chaudhary (28) of Avakheda, Praveen alias Pawan (26) and Dharamveer of Baghai (Katalia) were passing through there. They go to Jewar airport daily as they all work there.
On hearing the screams of the car occupants, the four youths stopped and tried to rescue them. Dharamveer took a girl out of the car. Pushpendra Singh, Pushpendra Chaudhary and Pawan were pulling out the woman trapped in the car when a Volvo bus coming from behind ran over the youths and the car, killing the three youths along with a woman and a man trapped in the car.
Dharamveer and the girl had a miraculous escape as they had come to the side of the road just when the Volvo crushed others.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed grief at the deaths and asked the authorities to ensure treatment to those injured in the mishap.
Meanwhile in Rampur, three friends going on a scooty on Nainital road died in a mishap. One of them was a student of CBSE school. The other two were going to drop him to school. The accident took place in front of a two-wheeler sales agency on Nainital Road in Civil Lines Kotwali area at 7 am on Monday.
Zeeshan of Pila Talab locality of Ganj Kotwali area was a Class 11 student at Greenwood School. His two friends, Ahad of Pakka Pul and Umer of Mohalla Gher Najju Khan, were going to drop him to school. Ahad was driving the scooty. Suddenly a dog came in front of the scooty following which went hit the road divider and fell. All the three friends were critically injured. They were shifted to hospital where the doctors pronounced all the three dead.
A case was registered and the bodies were sent for post-mortem.
