Five Pahadi Korwa youths working in the sugarcane fields in Uttar Pradesh’s Bagpat district were safely returned to Chhattisgarh on Tuesday.
The five had appealed for help by posting a video in which they alleged that they were being forced to work without pay and not allowed to return home.
They are from Surguja district and belong to a protected tribal group that resides in the hills and remote forest areas of Chhattisgarh.
Surguja Collector Kundan Kumar dispatched a team, including Sub Divisional Magistrate Ravi Rahi.
Rahi contacted the Baghpat administration and brought back the youths.
While returning, they posted another video thanking the government and the Surguja district administration for rescuing them.
