Seven-foot six-inch tall Jagdeep Singh — Punjab police’s former constable, a renowned Gatka player, and a participant in the American reality TV show ‘America's Got Talent' — was apprehended on Friday, along with two others, by the State Special Operation Cell, Amirtsar, for allegedly possessing approximately 500 grams of heroin.
The arrest took place in the Tarn Taran area, where the police had set up a naka (checkpoint) based on information about drug trafficking activities.
Jagdeep Singh, also known as Deep Singh, was driving an SUV when intercepted by the police. Subsequent search operations led to the discovery and confiscation of the illicit substance. Investigations into the matter are currently underway.
Recognized for his towering stature at 7 feet 6 inches — taller than ‘The Great Khali’, Deep Singh had gained fame not only for his Gatka skills but also for his appearances on the American reality TV show ‘America's Got Talent’. Despite his notable achievements, he had resigned from the Punjab police, citing personal reasons.
Authorities are working to unravel the details of the drug possession and trafficking allegations against Jagdeep Singh and the two others arrested with him.
