Members of the Ganjam District OAS Officers’ Association held an emergency meeting at Chatrapur on Friday, presided over by Additional Collector of Ganjam, Kabindra Kumar Sahu.
The members discussed threadbare about a recent development pertaining to the appointment of temporary Assistant Secretaries and Joint Secretaries by the Government and the emerging consequences thereof.
Notably, the State Government is reportedly going to appoint 150 posts of Assistant Secretaries and 110 posts of Joint Secretaries on temporary basis which would seriously impact the promotional avenues of the incumbent OAS officers placed in different positions under the State Government at present, sources said. Appointment of temporary Assistant Secretaries and Joint Secretaries will lead to stop promotion of the existing OAS officers at least for one year.
The association unanimously opposed the decision of the State Government as it will mar the promotional prospects of the senior existing incumbent OAS officers in the State.
The association demanded regularisation of all the positions and issue of health cards to all the OAS officers working in the State.
A delegation of the association is going to meet the Chief Minister and the 5T Secretary soon to press their demand and to apprise the various other legitimate issues, it was informed. The members condoled the death of Jharbandh BDO Runu Lakra and resorted to one-minute silence prayer.
Among others, chairperson of the Kalyan Committee of State OAS Officer’s Association, Chhatrapur BDO Ambika Prasad Das, Additional District Collector Amiya Kumar Sahu, Chatrapur Sub-Collector Priya Ranjan Prusty, Tehsildar Nilamadhab Bhoi, Deputy Collector Dibyalochan Mahant, GM of DIC Anam Charan Patra, Deputy Collector Bijayananda Sethi, Brahmapur Tahasildar Seepak Kumar Patra, Assistant Deputy Collector Saroj Kumar Das, Deputy Collector Snigdharani Dhal, LAO Raja Kishore Jena, Ganjam Tehsildar Arun Kumar Nayak and DUDA PD Sudam Charan Mandal were present.
