Haryana CM condemns attack on Punjab BJP MLA

Wednesday, 31 March 2021 | PNS | Chandigarh

Terming the attack on BJP MLA, Arun Narang in Punjab as highly condemnable, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal on Tuesday said that the matter has been brought to the notice of Punjab and Central Government.

“In democracy, everyone has the right to freedom of speech and expression. Protests should be done in a peaceful manner. Adopting violent ways is highly condemnable. Things should be pursued in a democratic way. All leaders leading such protests should responsibly give their statements, “said the Chief Minister while talking to the mediapersons here.

Reacting to the statement of INLD leader and former Ellenabad MLA Abhay Chautala, Khattar said, “Any person from a political or non-political background should refrain themselves from making inflammatory statements. I publicly appeal that no politician should give such statements because such statements not only disturb the social environment but also badly impact the credibility of the leader who speaks in such a wrong way.”

Chautala while speaking at the Makrauli Kalan toll plaza on Sunday had asked people to treat BJP-JJP leaders in the same way Punjab legislator Arun Narang had been treated. If any BJP-JJP leader tries to enter your villages, tie them to a pole, the former MLA had said.

HARYANA BJP LEADERS BURN PUNJAB CM’S EFFIGIES OVER ATTACK ON PARTY MLA

The Haryana BJP on Tuesday held protests in the state, burning effigies of Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and demanding his resignation over last week’s attack on party MLA Arun Narang in Muktsar.  Narang, BJP MLA from Abohar in Fazilka district, was allegedly thrashed and his clothes ripped off by a group of protesting farmers at Malout in Muktsar district on Saturday.

Haryana BJP leaders and workers held protests and raised slogans against Punjab CM in Jhajjar, Fatehabad, Panchkula and Yamunanagar among other places.

The demanded dismissal of the Congress government in Punjab over the law and order situation in the state.  In Panchkula, protesting BJP workers condemned the incident and said it indicated a “complete failure” of law and order in Punjab under the Congress regime.
