Hi-Tech Hospexplosiontoll rises to 2

The toll in the explosion at the Hi-Tech Medical College & Hospital hererose to two as another person succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the private healthcare facility on Tuesday night.

The deceased was identified as SritamSahu (23) of Chainpur village in the Delang area of Puri district. He was an employee of the organisation for two years and the sole bread earner of his family.

Days ago, DilipSamantray of Khordha had died during treatment as he was hospitalised after sustaining injuries in the explosion.Unable to bear the death of Dilip, his wife SunaSamantray took the extreme step of ending her life by hanging herself. She was found hanging at her father’s house.

Other two victims were undergoing treatment while their conditions were stated to be critical.

Notably, all of them had sustained critical injuries in the explosion at the hospital during AC gas filling on December 29, 2023.
