The Congress legislature party in Chhattisgarh on Wednesday met here and passed a single line resolution authorizing the High Command to decide the leader of the opposition.
A Congress spokesperson said a meeting of 35 Congress MLAs was held at Rajiv Bhavan. It was also attended by the party's in-charge for the state, Kumari Selja, and national treasurer Ajay Maken.
Later talking to the media, Kumari Selja said the party legislators unanimously decided to leave the matter of selection to the party High Command.
Among the Congress leaders at the meeting include former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, former ministers Kawasi Lakhma, Umesh Patel and Anila Bhendia and former Speaker Charan Das Mahant.
The Congress, which won 68 seats in 2018, has been reduced to 35 seats. The Gondwana Gantantra Party won one seat. The BJP bagged 54 seats.
