Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla on Saturday inaugurated Police Command and Control Centre (PCCC) at ICCC Complex, Sector-17, here which is monitoring the smart field elements like CCTV Surveillance Cameras wherein more than 1000 cameras are installed for real time surveillance of Traffic Junctions and other important buildings of Chandigarh like water works, parks, government hospitals, community centers, parking locations, schools etc at around 285 locations.
Dharam Pal, Adviser to the Administrator, Praveer Ranjan, Director General of Police, amongst other officials were present in the meeting.
He said that the objectives of Chandigarh Smart City mission are to enhance the safety and security, improve efficiency of municipal services and promote better quality of life for the residents and to achieve these objectives, Chandigarh desired to foster the development of a robust Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure. He said the Adaptive Traffic Control System (ATCS) monitors the real time traffic conditions of the city and uses Artificial Intelligence and machine learning technology to improve the signal timing and helps the city in easing the traffic issues. This system has been installed on 40 Junctions. A 24X7 help desk has been established which helps the citizens of Chandigarh to address their grievances at a faster pace, he added.
