Cabinet meeting in Haryana today
Chandigarh: The Haryana Cabinet will meet under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar at 11 am in the Committee Room of Haryana Civil Secretariat, Chandigarh on Wednesday, a government spokesperson informed on Tuesday.
Himachal police chief shifted
Shimla: A week after the Himachal Pradesh High Court ordered the state government to shift the Director General of Police on the basis of a complaint by a Palampur businessman, Sanjay Kundu was on Tuesday posted as principal secretary in the Ayush department. According to a notification issued by the government, Kundu has been shifted on the recommendations of the Civil Services Board in the public interest. He will relieve Amandeep Garg of his additional charge. Himachal Pradesh High Court on December 26 directed the government to shift the state’s police chief and the Kangra superintendent of police so that they could not influence a probe into a businessman’s complaint about a threat to his life. The state government is yet to take a decision on the appointment of a new police chief.
Cold conditions prevail in many parts of Punjab Haryana
Chandigarh: Cold weather conditions prevailed in many parts of Punjab and Haryana on Tuesday, with Bathinda reeling at 7 degrees Celsius, the weather office said. Among other places in Punjab, Patiala registered a low of 7.8 degrees Celsius. According to the Met office's weather report, Amritsar recorded a low of 8.3 degrees Celsius, Ludhiana 8 degrees and Faridkot 8.2 degrees. Chandigarh recorded a low of 9 degrees Celsius. In Haryana, Hisar recorded a low of 7.2 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature in Karnal was at 8 degrees. Narnaul and Bhiwani recorded minimum temperatures of 7.5 degrees Celsius and 7.7 degrees, respectively.
Woman accuses DSP of sexual harassment, Home Minister directs IG to investigate
Chandigarh: Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij took a stringent action on Tuesday after a woman from Hisar accused DSP, Hisar of sexual harassment. Vij directed the immediate transfer of the officer to another district. The Home Minister also directed IG, Hisar to form a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the allegations and submit its report within 10 days. Vij was listening to the public grievances visiting him at his residence in Ambala. The official spokesperson said that the woman from Hisar had alleged that she had filed a complaint of sexual harassment against the DSP, but due to the lax approach of the Hisar Police and not presenting the facts accurately, the accused got bail from the High Court.
CM Khattar approves 12 new projects worth Rs 50 crores
Chandigarh: Haryana Government on Tuesday decided to implement 12 new projects worth more than Rs. 50 crore under Rural Augmentation & Urban Water, Sewerage and Storm Water-State Plan in 6 districts namely Gurugram, Sonipat, Rohtak, Rewari, Jhajjar, and Mahendragarh. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar accorded administrative approval for these projects to be implemented by the Public Health Engineering Department. Additionally, Khattar has also approved the construction of a new road on the land of the abandoned Kulasi Link Drain in Jhajjar District with an estimated cost of Rs. 9.97 crore.
Rs 126 crore spent in Hry to tackle massive waste mountain in Gurugram & Faridabad
Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal on Tuesday said that the State Government has awarded contracts valued at approximately Rs 126 crore for processing an additional 15 lakh metric tonnes of legacy waste at Bandhwari. An action plan has been prepared to achieve this target by June 2024. Presiding over a meeting to assess waste disposal progress in Gurugram and Faridabad, Kaushal directed the officers of Pollution Control Board to take strict action against agencies and officials failing to address leachate waste management at the Bandhwari site. He emphasized decisive action, including penalties and fines, against those responsible for waste management and disposal tasks in landfills at Gurugram and Faridabad.
ECI conducts training on ‘Election Seizure Management System’
Chandigarh: The Election Commission of India on Tuesday conducted training on Election Seizure Management System (ESMS) here. ECI has developed ESMS for reporting seizures on real time basis made by various enforcement agencies such as State Police Department, State Excise Department, Income Tax Department, Narcotics Control Bureau, State Commercial Department, SGST, CGST, DRI, ED, RPF, CISF, BSF, ITBP, Department of Post, FSs, SSTs etc an official statement said. The Commission has implemented ESMS successfully during General Elections to Legislative Assemblies of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Rajasthan and Telangana concluded in December, 2023 and is going to implement it in forthcoming General Election to Lok Sabha to be held in 2024.Through this module, data of intercepted/seized items like cash, liquor, drugs, precious metals, freebies etc. will be digitalized from the field directly.
Infosys donates 50 wheelchairs to PGIMER
Chandigarh: Infosys, information technology company & ARPAN, Chandigarh on Tuesday donated 50 wheelchairs to the PGIMER, Chandigarh. The donation was officially received by Dr Vipin Koushal, Medical Superintendent, PGI along with Dr Pankaj Arora, Incharge, New OPD. Dr Koushal said that the contribution of 50 wheelchairs by Infosys aims to enhance the accessibility and comfort for patients visiting PGIMER's OPD, ensuring that individuals with mobility challenges receive the necessary support during their time at the hospital.
Haryana to start direct bus service to Ayodhya from Faridabad, Gurugram, Sonipat
Chandigarh: Haryana Transport Minister Mool Chand Sharma has announced that the state government will start direct bus service to Ayodhya from Faridabad, Gurugram, and Sonipat after the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on January 22. He also said that in future if there is demand from other districts, direct bus service will start to Ayodhya from there as well. “After the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony, numerous people from Haryana will visit Ayodhya. This new bus service will provide them with a convenient and affordable way to travel,” he said in a statement.
