KIIT to set up Indian Institute of Law

Sunday, 31 January 2021 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

The Bar Council of India (BCI) in collaboration with the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) University would set an Indian Institute of Law (IIL) in Bhubaneswar.

The socio-legal research institute would be established with an aim to promote advanced studies and research in law, to promote systematisation of law, to encourage and conduct investigations in legal and allied fields, to improve legal education, to impart instructions in law and to publish studies, books and periodicals.

The KIIT University would provide 2.5 lakh square feet of land to set up the institute. Besides, it would bear 40 per cent expenses of the infrastructure. Initially, as many as five departments would be introduced in the institute.

KIIT founder Dr Achyuta Samanta said, “Currently, there is no training institute in law to cater to the needs for skill development of law teachers and lawyers. The IIL will be a watershed institute to enhance their expertise, professional skill and acumen.”
