Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar informed that on the instructions of the Election Commission of India, under the special brief revision program of the voter list going on in the state for the Lok Sabha elections 2024, the last date of publication of the list has been extended till January 22, 2024. Earlier this last date was fixed as 5 January 2024.
On Wednesday, he also held a virtual meeting with the Deputy Commissioners/ District Election Officers of all the districts and gave necessary instructions. Apart from this, he has appealed to all other officials, employees, political parties and common citizens of the state engaged in voter registration work to avail the benefit of this extended date in the cases of eligible voters who are still left out of registration due to any reason. He also requested that applications related to registration or shifting should be submitted as soon as possible so that related changes can be registered in the voter list.
The CEO said that our BLO can be contacted for this. If people wish, they can also adopt online medium like Voter Helpline App or Voter Portal for their voter registration. It is noteworthy that the aim of the Election Commission of India is that no voter should be left out, to ensure that no voter is left out, a certificate is being taken from all the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) that no voter is left out in their voting area. Nevertheless, common people are also expected to take initiative as responsible citizens if their name is left out due to any reason and contact their BLO immediately or apply online.
During this, OSD Geeta Choubey, Election Officer Headquarters Sanjay Kumar, Under Secretary Sunil Kumar Singh and all the concerned officials of the election office were present.
