Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena on Saturday held a meeting ‘Samvaad @Raj Niwas’ with Imams, Aalims and Muazzins of the capital's mosques. This was his first meeting ever since he took over in May 2022.
“As 2023 draws to an end, we formally started Samvaad@RajNiwas- an interactive dialogue series with Imams & Aalims from Mosques across the City. It has been my endeavour to open the hitherto enigmatic Raj Niwas to the people of Delhi. It was an enriching experience meeting more than 50,000 people at Raj Niwas over the past 18 months. I hope that the interactive dialogue with people of Delhi- the City's main stakeholders, will get more structured & result oriented, with this new branding. I appeal to all residents of the Capital to engage with Samvaad@RajNiwas,” Saxena wrote on X.
According to Raj Niwas official, in the 18 months, since Saxena took over as LG, he has met more than 50,000 people belonging to varied sections in formal/informal gatherings at the Raj Niwas, averaging about 3,000 per month.
“Saxena, who has mostly been on the streets of Delhi trying to address various issues pertaining to the City, had announced upon taking over that rather than being the LG he would strive to serve as a ‘Local Guardian’ of the City and open the doors of hitherto opaque and colonial Raj Niwas to the people where anyone and everyone could walk in with their issues,” official said.
“As a result of this over the past year and a half on various formal occasions like the ‘At Home’ functions, celebration of Statehood Days and get together of various professional group, Saxena has been freely mixing with people, interacting with them and trying to address issues. Similarly, over hundreds of meetings with delegations that included those of, teachers, students, professors, lawyers, traders, doctors, street vendors, RWAs, residents of unauthorized colonies, slum dwellers, industry associations and residents/farmers from rural/urbanized villages of Delhi, the Lt. Governor has been interacting with the people along with officials of concerned departments and trying to solve their problems concurrently,” they added.
In the same series, Saxena will be meeting residents/farmers from villages of Delhi and have an interactive dialogue on DDA’s ‘Dilli Gramodaya Abhiyaan’ on 02.01.2024, in the New Year.
