Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati on Saturday remembered Sant Ravidas on his birth anniversary.
In a tweet, Mayawati said, "On the birth anniversary of the great saint Guru Ravidas, who gave the immortal humanitarian message of 'man changa to kathoti mein Ganga', heartfelt greetings and best wishes to his crores of followers living in the country. He spent his entire life in an attempt to make man a human being."
In another tweet, she said, "Under the BSP government formed four times in UP, a lot of efforts were made to realise the dreams of Sant Ravidas and the public interest and public welfare work done in his honor is not hidden from anyone. It will be appropriate if the Central and state governments do good for the society and the country by following his path."
Indirectly targeting the opposition parties celebrating Sant Ravidas Jayanti, the former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh said that many leaders had no real respect for the great saint but were just celebrating the occasion for political gains.
