The minimum temperature in Dehradun dropped two degrees below normal to 5.4 degrees Celsius on Monday intensifying the cold conditions here. However, the maximum temperature was two degrees above normal, which coupled with a clear sky provided some relief from the cold during the daytime. The minimum temperatures in other parts of the State also witnessed a drop on Monday.
The State meteorological centre has forecast that dry weather is likely to prevail in the State’s districts on Tuesday. Shallow to moderate fog is likely to occur in some parts of Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts during the morning hours.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear sky with mist likely to occur during the morning hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 24 degrees Celsius and six degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.
Meanwhile, the cold is intensifying in various parts of the State in the plains and the mountains. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Monday were 23.4 degrees Celsius and 5.4 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 23 degrees Celsius and 4.5 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 12.4 degrees Celsius and two degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 16 degrees Celsius and 2.9 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. The maximum temperature in Pantnagar was a degree above normal while the minimum temperature was a degree below normal. In Mukteshwar the maximum and minimum temperatures were two degrees each below normal while the maximum and minimum temperatures were one degree and two degrees below normal respectively.
