Friday, 31 December 2021 | PNS | Lucknow

Newly-appointed Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra said that he would ensure effective implementation of various schemes of the state government.

A 1984 batch IAS officer, Mishra, on Thursday, assumed charge after being given the important responsibility ahead of the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls.

Scheduled to retire on December 31, Mishra has been given a one-year extension in service and he replaced Rajendra Kumar Tiwari, who is scheduled to superannuate in 2023, and has been sent to the Centre on deputation.

Thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Adityanath for giving him the responsibility, Mishra said that he had witnessed the unprecedented changes that had taken place in the country in the last seven years.

He said that in 2017, when Yogi Adityanath took over as the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, the state was lagging behind in works related to the Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry but the situation had improved a lot in the last four and a half years.
