MLAS’ MEETING: Legislators exude confidence in Hemant Soren

Thursday, 04 January 2024 | PNS | Ranchi

Legislators of the ruling coalition in the State today exuded confidence in the leadership of Chief Minister Hemant Soren led government and unanimously said that they are up against any conspiracy against the CM and the Government in Jharkhand. The MLAs of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, Indian National Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal gathered for a crucial meeting at the Chief Minister’s official residence here on Wednesday in the wake of recent political development.

A government press release stated, “An important meeting of ministers and MLAs of the ruling party was held today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Hemant Soren. The latest political situation in the state was specifically discussed in this meeting. The Chief Minister gave his views on the entire incident and informed everyone about it. On this occasion, all the MLAs expressed their full confidence in the Chief Minister. They said that they are always with him and will remain so in future too.”

“In any situation, all the legislators are completely united and any kind of conspiracy against the Chief Minister and the state government will not succeed. They also said that the state government under the leadership of the Chief Minister is continuously working for development and public interest and this will continue,” it further stated.

Notably, the legislators’ meeting was called in the wake of the sudden resignation of JMM MLA from Gandey Assembly Constituency Sarfaraz Ahmed on January 01, 2024. While the BJP alleged that CM Hemant Soren, facing investigation of ED, will resign from his post and make his wife Kalpana Soren contest from the seat to lead the government, the JMM rejected the notion.

Also Soren had rejected the speculations that his wife Kalpana Soren would be fighting a bye-election from Gandey Assembly constituency in order to remain CM of the State after his resignation.

"Possibility of my wife contesting in the near future is a complete imagination of the BJP... Speculations about handing over reins to her is a fabric woven by the BJP to build a false narrative," he had said on Tuesday.

Notably, speculations were rife in the State after media reports that CM’s wife Kalpana Soren would contest bypolls in order to become CM after the Enforcement Directorate sent seventh summons to Soren asking him for a place and time to record his statement. The speculations event more intensified with the resignation of JMM's Gandey MLA Sarfaraz Ahmad on January 01, 2024.

As soon as Ahmed resigned BJP MP Nishikant Dibey posted on X that he has been made a scapegoat in order to make Kalpana Soren the new CM. He said that Ahmad was forced to make way for Kalpana Soren so that she could contest from the Gandey seat if the ED takes an extreme step and it becomes difficult for Soren to hold the post of Chief Minister.
