Good news for tourists during picnic season as the Nandankanan Zoological Park (NZP) will remain open on Christmas and New Year.
In view of possible huge footfalls on Christmas and New Year, the Nandankanan authorities have decided to keep the zoo open for tourists on December 25, 2023 and January 1, 2024, both of which fall on Monday.
The zoo usually remains shut for tourists on Monday. As the two big occasions fall on its off day, the park will remain open on two Mondays.
Instead, the zoo will remain closed for tourists on two Tuesdays, i.e., December 26 and January 2.
Meanwhile, four new members, a pair of wallabies and a pair of Livingstone turacos, have been added to the zoo. The species including two small-sized kangaroos have been brought from Hyderabad under an animal acquisition scheme.
Following their arrival, they have been kept in quarantine. Reports said they would be put in enclosures on December 28, a day before the Nandankanan Foundation Day, for public view.
