Before taking oath as Chhattisgarh Chief Minister, Vishnu Deo Sai on Wednesday paid tributes to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and freedom fighter Veer Narayan Singh for their contribution to the state.
Sai reached the Avanti Vihar ATM Chowk and garlanded the statue of Vajpayee. He then drove to the Jai Stambh Chowk and garlanded the statue of Chhattisgarh's first freedom fighter, Veer Narayan Singh.
Vajpayee admired Chhattisgarh for its tribal culture and forest resources. The demand for Chhattisgarh state had been raised since 1965. Vajpayee fulfilled the dream in 2000.
Veer Narayan Singh was a tribal hero who sacrificed his life for Chhattisgarh Mahtari. To honour him, Chhattisgarh has established a "Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Samman" for excellent work in the field of upliftment of tribal and backward classes.
