Odisha has created a revolution in the field of sports. Whether in organising sports meets, ramping up sports infrastructure or encouraging sports talents, the Odisha Government has done exemplary work, said former Indian Olympic hockey team captain and Arjuna Award winner Ashok Kumar Dhyanchand.
The other States should emulate the Odisha Government. When I came to Odisha in 1977 to play in the national hockey championship, there was no notable sports infrastructure in Bhubaneswar. But now the city has been turned into a number one city in terms of sports infrastructure in the country. Now on feels elated when one sees the Kalinga Stadium infrastructure, said Ashok Kumar, who is the son of hockey wizard Major Dhayanchand, while attending the valedictory ceremony of Zirda -2023 sports meet organised by Z Estates and Samaj in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
Among others, Bhubaneswar North MLA Susant Kumar Raut and cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar’s doppelganger Balbir Chand SKY Automobiles marketing manager Rosalin Patnaik and Avinash Singhania were present. The sports meet was coordinated by Z -1 society secretary Bidhubhusan Nayak,, joint secretary Kalpataru Nayak, treasurerArtatran Panigrahi and Sanjay Kumar Patra.
