Fulfilling the twin objectives of ensuring women empowerment and provision of clean water in rural areas, Uttar Pradesh completed testing of over 30,39,687 samples of water till the last week of December, 2022.
The testing of water samples under Jal Jeevan Mission was carried out by rural women in just nine months (April 22, 2022 to December 22). Owing to the sustained efforts of the state government, women are not only becoming a participant in fulfilling Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s vision of supplying pure drinking water to households but are also achieving major milestones by testing water sources themselves on a large-scale with field test kits (FTK) in their villages.
Out of the 4.22 lakh samples of water found contaminated, remedial action has been completed on 46,000 samples by Jal Nigam (Rural) engineers.
Significantly, the testing of water sources on such a large-scale by rural women in just nine months reveals the all-round transformation of the state. The testing of water samples is not only ensuring that an increasing number of households get pure water but also is guaranteeing the safety of rural dwellers from numerous diseases.
