The police arrested a man named Amit Katariya who killed his aunt’s son (17) for property. The accused allegedly had an affair with the victim’s mother too, said the Haridwar superintendent of police Pramendra Dobhal. He said that the police found the body of a teenager in the Bairagi Camp area under the Kankhal police station on January 1. He said that it was clear from the injury marks on the body that the incident was murder.
The deceased was identified as Yash alias Krish, a resident of the Balmiki Basti area in Kankhal. On the complaint of the deceased's mother, the police registered a case under relevant sections of murder at Kankhal police station and started an investigation. The SSP said that Katariya was the prime suspect in the case who was finally arrested on Wednesday with the victim’s mobile and clothes soaked with the victim’s blood. “It was revealed in the investigation that the accused allegedly had an affair with the victim’s mother.
He also considered the victim as an obstruction in acquiring property worth about Rs 1.25 crores due to which he killed him. Katariya first got the victim drunk and then strangulated him and repeatedly hit a rock on his head,” said Dobhal. He said that the police are still investigating whether there was any accomplice of Katariya in carrying out this murder and will act accordingly.
