PSEB discontinues re-evaluation provision for 2024 board exams

Saturday, 06 January 2024 | Monika Malik | Chandigarh

Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) on Friday announced the discontinuation of the re-evaluation provision for the students appearing in the board exams in March 2024.

The Board, in an official notification, cited the inconvenience caused to the examinees due to result delays and technical reasons as factors leading to this decision. However, the facility of re-checking answer sheets will continue as before.

The move aimed at streamlining the examination result declaration process and reduce delays associated with re-evaluation procedures.

According to the Board, the decision has been made in the best interest of the examinees, taking into account their convenience and the technical challenges associated with the re-evaluation process.

Additionally, the PSEB has introduced changes in the remuneration provided to teachers for marking solved answer sheets during the examinations.

For Class X answer sheets, teachers will now receive Rs 8.50 per marked sheet — an increase from the previous Rs 6.25. Similarly, teachers grading Class XII answer sheets will receive Rs 10 per marked sheet, up from Rs 7.50. These changes will be effective from the March 2024 examinations.

Further to enhance the standards of 11 Adarsh Senior Secondary Schools under the Board, PSEB has decided to implement special changes related to school activities, infrastructure, financial reforms, and teacher training. The uniformity of student uniforms, morning assembly prayers, school songs, and logos will be ensured across these schools.

To optimize teacher availability and student learning during teacher absences or vacations, the timetable for group classes in these schools will be aligned.

Kyan (online) learning will be facilitated, allowing students to be taught by a teacher from another school when their regular teacher is absent. Moreover, a dedicated website for Group 11 Adarsh Schools will be created, linked to the Board's main website.

As per the date sheet issued by PSEB, Class X exams are scheduled to begin from February 13 to March 5, 2024. The Class XII exams will be conducted from February 13, 2024, till March 30, with the examination timings set from 11 am to 2:15 pm. The Board assured that these changes are part of ongoing efforts to enhance the education system in Punjab and provide a more efficient and standardized examination process for students.
