Puri trains to terminate, originate at BBSR

Sunday, 31 May 2020 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

On the advice of the State Government, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) has short-terminated and short-originated two pairs of trains between New Delhi and Puri, a release informed on Saturday.

The trains would terminate and originate at Bhubaneswar railway station till further order, the ECoR said. The Puri-New Delhi Purushottam Express starting on June 1 would originate from Bhubaneswar instead of Puri. Similarly, the Sealdah-Puri-Sealdah Duronto Express tri-weekly train will be short-terminated at Bhubaneswar.

Though the reason has not been cited yet, it is learnt that the Government has taken the move to check congregation in Puri before the scheduled Snan Yatra of the Shreemandir deities on June 5.

While the authorities have decided to hold Snan Yatra with the least number of Sevayats and without devotees to break spread of coronaviurs, running of trains to Puri has been stopped to check crowding at the shrine, said sources.
