The weather in the State is set to take a turn on Tuesday with rain and snowfall forecast in five mountainous districts. The State meteorological centre has forecast that very light to light rain is likely to occur at isolated places and snowfall is likely in places situated at altitudes of 3,000 metres and above in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh district today. Dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts of the State. The meteorological centre has further forecast that the provisional State capital Dehradun will witness a mainly clear to partly cloudy sky. Mist is likely to occur during the morning hours while the maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 21 degrees Celsius and seven degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today. The drop forecast in the maximum temperature is likely to increase the effects of cold in Dehradun today.
Meanwhile, the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various places on Monday were 22.4 degrees Celsius and 7.6 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 23.2 degrees Celsius and 5.6 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 13.5 degrees Celsius and four degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 15.5 degrees Celsius and 4.7 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.
