The weather is set to take a turn in the mountainous regions on New Year’s Eve. The State meteorological centre has forecast the possibility of light rain in three mountainous districts. It is also issued a dense fog warning for the plains.
The meteorological centre has forecast the possibility of very light to light rain likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Pithoragarh districts on Sunday. Moderate to dense fog is likely to occur at many places in the plains during the morning hours. The meteorological centre has also issued a yellow warning (watch) regarding the possibility of medium to dense fog likely to occur at a few places in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts during the morning hours today.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear sky with mist likely to occur during the morning hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 23 degrees Celsius and eight degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun on Sunday.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, the temperatures were above normal in Dehradun and some other parts of the State while they were lower than normal in some places in the State. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various places on Saturday were 23.4 degrees Celsius and 8.2 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 14.1 degrees Celsius and 11 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 13.7 degrees Celsius and 4.8 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 15.1 degrees Celsius and 4.8 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. The maximum and minimum temperatures were three degrees and two degrees above normal respectively in Dehradun. In Pantnagar the maximum temperature was six degrees below normal while the minimum temperature was six degrees above normal. The maximum temperature in Mukteshwar was one degree above normal while the minimum temperature was three degrees above normal. The maximum temperature was one degree below normal while the minimum temperature was two degrees above normal in New Tehri.
