Sunday, 31 December 2023 | PNS | DEHRADUN

The Dehradun District Advisory Committee of Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) has directed officials to raise awareness about the PCPNDT Act across the district. A meeting was held on Saturday on the directions of district magistrate Sonika chaired by chief medical officer Dr Sanjay Jain. The committee gave instructions to the health officials concerned to provide information about the PCPNDT Act at Anganwadi centres with the help of the Women Empowerment and Child Development department and make people aware of it. Besides this, organisations and self help groups associated with PCPNDT should also organise programmes and run awareness campaigns to raise awareness among maximum people across the district. The CMO said that people should know such points that if any illegal activity like the sex selection technique of a child is taking place at any health or medical centre, a reward of Rs 50,000 will be given to those giving such information to the authorities concerned. The people should know that their names will be kept secret from everyone if they provide such information. The committee also decided that the labs and hospitals should give detailed information regarding Form F under the PCPNDT Act to the patients, pregnant women and their families among others. The officials said that Form F should be kept safe at the hospitals and health centres only as per the rules and should be disposed of within the prescribed time. Meanwhile, the CMO also held a meeting with the health department officials.  He said that all government and non-government hospitals should follow the rules associated with biomedical waste under the Biomedical Management Rules 2016. He directed to form a committee in the district to ensure every medical body follows this rule in the district. He asked the officials concerned to ensure that biomedical waste rules are followed in all the government hospitals. He also directed to take strict action against those hospitals that are not disposing of biomedical waste as per the norms.
