Congress leader Navajyoti Patnaik has penned a letter to the Chief Minister NaveenPatnaik, urging comprehensive development for northern Odisha in general and Baleswar in particular.
Through his letter, Patnaik gave New Year wish in advance to the CM and underscored the necessity of establishing a Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) Office in Baleswar district to ensure effective regional representation in administrative affairs. Despite the creation of three revenue zones by the Odisha Government, representation for northern Odisha has been overlooked, he said.
The letter emphasized that Baleswar Municipality has long been neglected without any upgrades. Consequently, the residents are deprived of developmental benefits. While several municipalities in the State have been elevated to municipal corporation status, Baleswar is yet to be given that privilege. Municipal corporations in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack in the coastal area, Sambalpur and Rourkela in western Odisha, and Brahmapur in southern Odisha are enjoying developmental benefits, leaving the people of Baleswar at a disadvantage, he lamented.
Patnaik highlighted the demand for a Sub-Division Office in Jaleswar to bolster local administrative infrastructure. Unfortunately, the Odisha Government has been negligent of addressing the need. He expressed optimism that the important issues will be discussed in the upcoming Cabinet meeting.
