The Vigilance police conducted simultaneous searches of houses of Mallilata Das, Lady Supervisor, office of the CDPO, Bhadrak, on August 24 on the allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to her known sources of income.
A five-storied building, a four-storied building-cum-shops and three plots at Bhadrak town, a four-wheeler, an auto-rickshaw, two two-wheelers, assets and stocks in the shops worth 1.13 crore, bank deposit over Rs 1.96 lakh, insurance deposits Rs 1.83 lakh and other movable and immovable properties worth over Rs 2.63 crore were unearthed.
The income, expenditure and assets of the Lady Supervisor were calculated and she was found in possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income to the tune of Rs 1,32 crore, which constitutes 113% of her known sources of income. Later, the Lady Supervisor and her husband were arrested and forwarded to court. They have been remanded to judicial custody till September 9.
