Unidentified miscreants allegedly looted Rs 14 lakh from the Banki Central Cooperative Bank’s Tamapada branch in Cuttack district on Thursday night.
The robbers reportedly committed the loot by breaking the locker of the bank.
The incident came to the fore after the employees of the bank reached the office on Friday morning.
“Upon arriving, we found the lock of the gate broken. After entering the bank, the cash kept inside the locker was missing. We immediately informed police about the matter,” the branch manager said.
Apart from the cash, the looters decamped with the hard disk of the CCTV cameras. They also ransacked the properties of the bank before fleeing the place, he added.
Police have started an investigation into the incident while efforts were on by cops to identify, trace and apprehend the looters.
